An organiser of hundreds of public Rosary Rallies across Ireland has said the gatherings show Catholics are “rediscovering the value of devotion to Our Lady”.
The 586 rallies, organised by the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation and its Ireland Needs Fatima campaign, marked the 109th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.
Speaking to The Irish Catholic, campaign coordinator Gregory Murphy said the rallies were the largest number the group had organised since beginning the campaign in 2013.
“To have that large of public manifestations spread across the country is a small miracle,” Mr Murphy said, estimating that 10,000 to 12,000 people took part nationally.
“People are rediscovering the value of devotion to Our Lady because in this day and age of chaos, of wars, people are looking for solutions,” he said.
Mr Murphy said he hoped the rallies would help “rekindle the devotion to the Rosary” in Ireland and encourage public prayer to become more common beyond the month of May.
