Trócaire’s CEO Caoimhe de Barra is leaving 25 years after joining the organisation, in which she was Chief Executive Officer for seven years. Ms de Barra will now take up a new role with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).
“The decision to leave Trócaire was not an easy one but after some consideration I felt the time was right for a new leader as Trócaire moves into its next strategic planning phase,” Ms de Barra said. “I am looking forward to bringing my… commitment [to] human rights and social justice to a new role” at the IHREC.
IHREC Director, Deirdre Malone, said they “warmly welcome the appointment… and look forward to working with her as she leads the Strategic Engagement team.”
Trócaire will begin the search for a new Chief Executive Officer over the coming weeks. The recruitment will be led by the organisation’s board, chaired by Bishop Paul Dempsey.
