The Order of Malta launched their 2025 Christmas Appeal campaign at Government Buildings. The appeal, in support of the Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem, was officially launched by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin on October 31.
“The Holy Family Hospital stands as a living symbol of hope and peace,” John Wright, Hospitaller of the Order of Malta in Ireland said at the launch. It is “a place where life begins amid suffering, and where faith is lived daily through care.”
Mr Wright said, “The longstanding dedication of our Irish medical volunteers has been an enduring expression of that faith in action — literally a bridge of compassion between Ireland and Bethlehem. It’s vital that the bridge remains open.”
Last year, over 100,000 babies were delivered in the hospital. In a statement, the Order said that “despite the current conflict in the region and immense operational challenges, the hospital continues to stand as a beacon of compassion, hope and medical excellence in a region marked by hardship.”
The hospital’s operating costs are sustained by the Order of Malta and through voluntary donations by the public. The funds raised in this year’s campaign will support the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, the community outreach programmes, provide medical care to expectant mothers, high risk infants from refugee camps and remote villages across Palestine.
