The Pray for Life novena runs from May 23 to May 31 and falls on the Feast of the Visitation. It is an initiative of the Council for Life of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
Everyone across Ireland is invited to pray this novena. Bishop Kevin Doran of Achonry and Elphin, as well as chairman of the Bishops’ Council for Life, said, “Prayer is a vital pro-life activity because if our prayer is sincere, it inevitably leads us to take action and be part of bringing about what we have prayed for.”
Each day of the novena has a specific intention, along with a brief reflection and practical suggestions to foster a culture of life in Ireland.
This is the third year of the novena. This year coincides with the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of St Pope John Paul II’s encyclical letter Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life).
