On September 13, the Kilmore Diocesian Centre will host a Facilitation Skills Day designed to teach parishioners the skills needed to lead small group discussions. Anyone active in parish life or wishing to be more active can attend.
Jim Deeds, a pastoral worker and leadership skills trainer, will be leading parishioners through the training day, teaching them practical skills needed for facilitation and also working on confidence and leadership. Mr Deeds will lead the trainees through informative yet playful exercises designed to provide skills that participants can take with them and bring back to their own communities and parishes. Participants can apply the skills acquired at the training day to parish liturgy groups or other initiatives such as Alpha or Advent and Lenten programmes.
The need for parishioners to be equipped with these skills has risen recently, where pastoral councils have voiced their hope for more people to lead faith development programs in their parish.
