Dublin Diocese has applied for planning permission for a major renovation of the Pro-Cathedral in Dublin’s City Centre. The planning application lodged as “Applicant – St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Parish C/O Schools & Parishes of Diocese of Dublin (RC) Pro-Cathedral House, 83 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1” requests planning for development of the Church, which is a Protected Structure, including “the refurbishment and repair of the existing Pro-Cathedral House, three storeys over raised basement.
Internal works are listed as changes to WCs, structural upgrade works, alternations to room layouts, fire safety improvement, replacement lift, electrical works as well as underground drainage repairs and a new internal fit out.
The external works include restoration of brickwork, re-rendering of façades, repair of windows and doors localised repair of existing windows and doors and so on.
It is an extensive list of work and the architect is Fitzgerald Kavanagh and Partners, who previously worked on St Mel’s Catherdral.
