Community and family gathered last weekend for the ordination to the priesthood of now Fr Anthony Kerr. The ceremony took place in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar on Saturday, November 29. The ordination Mass was celebrated by Bishop Tom Deenihan and concelebrated by priests of the Diocese of Meath. In his homily, Bishop Deenihan welcomed the new priest and said that “an ordination is a sign of hope.”
He said an ordination means another priest working in the parishes of the diocese, linking that to his recently released Pastoral Letter, where he mentioned the fear of parishes losing their resident priest. “Anthony’s ordination is welcome and good news for them in particular,” the bishop said. More ordinations are on the Diocese of Meath’s horizon, as they have a further three students in Seminary formation and two more
undertaking a Propaedeutic experience.
