A recent pilgrimage by members of Clogher Diocese’s youth group, Clogher don Óige, was described as “humbling” by one of the participants. The young people taking part had the responsibility of ensuring those unable to move on their own could attend Masses and liturgies by pushing wheelchairs and chariots. One of the young people said, “assisting the pilgrims who came seeking healing was humbling.”
“Some [pilgrims] were searching for physical healing, while others longed for peace in their hearts,” the young pilgrim added. “Witnessing their courage strengthened my own faith, showing me the beauty of trusting completely in God.”
Accompanying the 75 young people from across the diocese were Fr Leo Creelman, the diocesan Youth Chaplain, James McLoughlin, Youth Ministry Director, Deacon Stephen Sherry, two Sisters from St Anthony Convent, Drogheda, and a team of ten leaders.
Mr McLoughlin said Clogher don Óige focuses on building a community centred on faith and creates opportunities for young people to “encounter Christ… and engage in service to others.” He said they went on this pilgrimage “in a profound testament to faith and service
