Community Connect, Ireland’s national Baby Bank Charity, invites everyone to embrace the true spirit of Advent this season by supporting its Christmas campaign, ‘A Bundle of Love this Christmas’.
dvent is a sacred time—four weeks of hope, preparation and quiet anticipation as we await the coming of the Christ-child at Christmas. It is a season that reminds us of Mary and Joseph’s own journey, marked by uncertainty, vulnerability and steadfast faith. Their story is echoed in the experiences of pregnant mothers and families across Ireland, who face financial hardship and emotional stress during this season.
While Christmas is a joyful time for most of us, it can be especially difficult for families facing poverty, particularly those with newborn babies. The basics many of us take for granted—nappies, warm clothing and a safe place for a baby to sleep—can feel out of reach for parents already stretched to their limits. Community Connect shares hope through the provision of essential baby items, lovingly prepared and delivered to families who need them most.
Lifeline
In just a few short years, Community Connect has grown into a vital lifeline for vulnerable families nationwide. Community Connect works closely with maternity hospitals, homeless services, domestic violence refuges and health professionals around Ireland, to provide support to pregnant women and new mothers at a time of real need.
The charity has supported over 3,000 families, making almost 4,000 deliveries of essential items”
With hubs in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, Athlone and Dundalk, along with volunteers in many more areas, the charity supports families in their own local communities. Thousands of generous supporters have donated baby items – from buggies and cribs to clothing bundles and toiletries. Each week, dedicated volunteers gather in our hubs to sort and prepare these donations with care, ensuring every package reaches families in need. And knitters around the country lovingly handcraft beautiful baby cardigans, blankets and hats for the families we support.
To date, the charity has supported over 3,000 families, making almost 4,000 deliveries of essential items. Each delivery helps expecting and new mothers with the equipment and supplies they need to welcome their little ones into the world with love, care and dignity.
