65 teachers from Co. Cork gathered for the annual Cork and Ross Post Primary Religious Education Teachers’ In-Service on November 6, where they discussed youth ministry, the implementation of the new Senior Cycle RSE resource and more.
“I feel recharged after today…it was amazing to meet all the other religion teachers that are inspiring the young people”, said Shauna Fitzpatrick, who teaches in Rochestown. “These days are just imperative for mind, body and soul for the RE teachers,” echoed teacher Anne-Marie Nolan, who also attended the in-service.
Fr Hugh Lagan, a member of the Society of African Missions, was the keynote speaker, delivering a talk on “Leaning into the Light–Reclaiming Meaning, Purpose and Passion in Religious Education”. Sheila Kelleher, coordinator of youth ministry and digital communications, was also present, sharing about the number of diocesian youth initiatives that have emerged in the past year.
Lastly, Michelle Ward offered her insights into the implementation of the new Senior Cycle RSE resource, and Bishop Fintan Gavin celebrated Mass after the talks.
