Over the month of September, the Diocese of Cork and Ross has held two meetings for representatives of the 16 groups of parishes to discuss a range of topics raised by parishioners and clergy in the last year.

The first of these meetings took place on September 7 in Rosscarbery, and the second on September 14 in Rochestown.

These meetings are a central part of the “Year of Prayer, Listening and Discernment” that Bishop Fintan Gavin launched at Gougane Sunday 2025, hoping to give people of all ages the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas with one another about the future of the Catholic Church, and encourage involvement in their parishes.

Topics discussed in the meetings included the celebrations of Baptism and Sunday Mass, and how parishes can reach out to youth and children preparing for school-age Sacraments.

All the feedback from parishes has been compiled into local and diocesian reports and can be viewed on the website for the Diocese of Cork and Ross.
